The MXT575 operates on GMRS frequencies and requires a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license. Unlicensed operation may result in serious penalties.
GMRS channels: 1–7, 15–22, RP15–22 require licensing.
A call sign issued by the FCC is required for station identification.
To obtain a license: Call 1-888-CALL FCC or visit fcc.gov and request form 605.
Radio Frequency Exposure
Transmit no more than 50% of the time.
Use an antenna with maximum gain of 2.1 dBi.
Maintain a minimum distance of 16 inches (40 cm) from the antenna while transmitting.
Installing Your Radio
Preparation
Verify your vehicle has a 12-volt negative ground system.
Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable before installation.
Choose a mounting location that ensures visibility, accessibility, and safety.
Mounting the Bracket
Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark holes under the dash.
Drill carefully and secure with provided screws (do not over-tighten).
Slide the radio into the bracket until it locks in place.
About Range
Your MXT575 is designed to give you maximum operating range under optimum conditions:
"Optimum condition" examples for maximum operating range are:
- Over water
- In open rural areas without obstructions
- On flat areas where you can see the other radio user
To ensure you get maximum range:
- Be sure to mount the antenna as high as possible on your vehicle
- Be sure to set your radio to use High power
Installing the Antenna
Mount as high as possible on a metal surface.
Avoid surfaces covered with fiberglass or vinyl.
Route antenna cable carefully to prevent damage or interference.
Use existing gaskets and weather stripping to protect the cable.
Power Connection
Connect red wire to vehicle fuse block, accessory terminal, or battery positive post.
Connect black wire to a solid metal ground.
Microphone, Speaker, Intercom
Connect the microphone to the front jack.
Optional: connect an external speaker or intercom headset to the rear panel.

Operating Your Radio
Power On/Off
Press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds to power on or off.
Selecting Channels
Use Channel Up/Down on the mic to navigate.
Channel number is shown on the LCD.
Adjusting Volume
Use Volume Up/Down buttons on the microphone.
Transmitting and Receiving
Hold PTT to transmit (red TX indicator).
Release PTT to receive (green RX indicator).
For best audio, hold mic 2–3 inches from your mouth.
Utility Functions
Keypad Lock
Press and hold the Lock button to activate or deactivate.
Lock icon will appear when enabled.
PTT, Volume, and Call buttons remain functional.
Monitor Mode
Press Monitor button to listen for weak signals.
Use to adjust volume when not receiving.
Scanning
Press Scan to auto-scan GMRS channels.
Radio pauses on active channels.
Press PTT to transmit on a scanned channel.
Press Scan again to stop scanning.
NOAA Weather Radio
Weather Scan
Press WX to enter weather mode.
Radio will scan all 10 NOAA channels and lock onto the strongest.
Use Channel Up/Down to rescan manually.
Press PTT to exit weather mode.
Manual Weather Channel Selection
Press Scan while in weather mode to lock onto a channel.
Use Channel Up/Down to manually select a weather channel.
Weather Alert
In weather mode, press and hold WX to activate the alert.
The weather icon will flash.
When an alert is received, the radio will sound a siren and switch to weather mode.
To disable: return to the active weather channel, press and hold WX.
Menu Functions
Selecting a Privacy Code
Use CTCSS or DCS privacy codes for channel filtering.
Menu → “Pt” → Select “oF” (off), “Ct” (CTCSS), or “dC” (DCS).
Use Volume buttons to select specific codes.
Press Lock to confirm.
Privacy Codes for Repeater Channels
Menu → “rC” for Receive, “tC” for Transmit (repeater channels only).
Press Lock to confirm each setting.
Transmit Power Level
Menu → “Pr” → Select “Hi” or “Lo” power.
Channels 1–7 are restricted to Lo power.
Press Lock to confirm.
Squelch Sensitivity
Menu → “SQ” → 00 (most sensitive) to 09 (least sensitive).
Default: 04.
Press Lock to confirm.
Roger Beep
Menu → “rb” → Select “oN” or “oF.”
Beep sounds at end of transmission.
Press Lock to confirm.
Call Alert Tone
Menu → “CA” → Select tone 1–5.
Press Lock to confirm.
Silent Operation
Menu → “bP” → Select “oN” (silent) or “oF.”
Disables all beeps and tones.
Press Lock to confirm.
Repeater Channel Activation
Menu → “rP” → Enable or disable repeater channels.
Press Lock to confirm.
LCD Display Color
Menu → “db” → Select from seven colors.
Press Lock to confirm.
Channel Bandwidth
Menu → “bs” → Select “bn” (narrow) or “bw” (wide).
Default is narrow for compatibility.
Choosing Output Speaker

Press Lock button → Use Volume buttons to select:
HF AO: Mic speaker active, base speaker off.
HO AF: Base speaker active, mic speaker off.
HO AO: Both speakers active.
Restoring Factory Defaults
With radio off, press and hold PTT + WX and power on.
All user settings will reset.
Care and Maintenance
Clean with a water-moistened soft cloth.
Avoid using alcohol or cleaning solvents.
Dry with a lint-free cloth if wet.
