Getting Started
Battery Installation
- Use NiMH battery pack or 3 AA alkaline batteries.
- Remove belt clip, slide off battery cover, insert batteries with correct polarity, and reassemble.
Belt Clip Installation
- Slide into slot until it clicks. To remove, pull the lock tab and slide upward.
Charging Instructions
Charge using:
- USB Cable: Plug directly into USB charging jack
- Optional Desktop Charger: Insert USB into charger and dock the radios
Charging Indicators:
- Bars flash while charging; "FULL" appears when complete
- Charge with radio turned off for best results
Power & Volume
- Turn knob clockwise to power on and adjust volume.
- Turn counterclockwise to decrease volume and power off.

- Hold PTT to talk (TX icon displays)
- Release to listen (RX icon appears)
Range
Optimal range in open areas or over water; use high power setting and fully charged batteries for best performance.

NOAA Weather Radio
- Press and hold UP/WX to activate WX Scan
- Press MENU during scan to stop and choose manual WX Channel (1–10)
- WX Alert: Auto ON during WX Scan; can be toggled in WX mode (MENU x2)
Additional Functions
Scan Mode
- Press SCAN to scan all 36 channels
- Stops on active channel for 6 seconds
- Press PTT to transmit on found channel
Monitor Mode
- Press and hold MONITOR for 3 seconds to listen for weak signals
- Use for volume checks and pre-transmission listening
Reset to Default
- Turn on radio while holding ▲ button
