Power Options
Battery Installation
- Compatible with 3 AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries or 3 AAA alkaline batteries.
- Remove belt clip for access by pulling the LOCK TAB away from the radio, then gently pull the belt clip toward the top of the radio.
- Insert batteries with proper polarity, then replace cover and clip.
Charging (T31 Only)
- Plug the USB cable into a USB power source and into the charging jack on the radio.
- Charging indicators:
- Bars flash while charging
- Display reads "FULL" when complete
- Recommended charge time: 12 hours (radio OFF)
⚠️ Do not attempt to charge alkaline batteries.

Getting Started
Power ON/OFF & Volume
- Hold MENU/POWER for 3 seconds to turn on/off
- Use ▲/▼ to adjust volume
Reset to Default
- Turn ON the radio while holding ▲ to reset to Channel 1 with no privacy code
Using the Radio
Selecting a Channel
- Press MENU, then ▲/▼ to choose channels 1–22
- Confirm with PTT or MENU
Setting Privacy Codes
- Press MENU twice, use ▲/▼ to select one of 38 codes
- “oF” disables privacy
- All radios must match channel + code to communicate
VOX (Hands-Free)
- Press MENU until “VOX” appears
- Select “on” or “oF” using ▲/▼
- Confirm with PTT or MENU
Roger Beep
- Enables a tone when PTT is released
- In MENU, look for “rb” icon to turn on/off
Silent Operation
- Disables all button beeps
- In MENU, find "bP" to turn on/off
Advanced Functions
Call Alert
- Press CALL to send alert tone
Monitor
- Hold MONITOR 3 sec to open squelch and listen for weak signals
- Repeat to exit
Scan
- Press SCAN briefly to scan all channels
- Stops for 6 seconds when activity is detected
NOAA Weather Features
Weather Radio
- Hold WX/UP for 5 seconds to enter WX band
- Use MENU to select channels 1–10
- Press PTT to exit
Weather Alert
- While in WX mode:
- Press MENU twice to access alert setting
- Set to “on” or “oF”
- When alert is triggered, radio beeps for 20 seconds and switches to WX mode
Battery Indicator
- Bars on the screen show battery life
- “bt Lo” flashes when battery is low
- Recharge if using NiMH batteries (T31 only)
Range & Conditions
For best range:
- Use fresh/charged batteries
- Use GMRS channels (1–7, 15–22)
- Operate in open, flat areas with minimal obstructions
- Keep line of sight with other radio users
