Powering the WR300
AC Adapter (Recommended)
- Plug the adapter into the DC jack on the back of the unit
- Plug the other end into a standard wall outlet
Battery Backup (Optional)
- Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment
- Batteries provide backup power in case of outages
- Clock and memory functions are retained with battery backup

Basic Operation
Turning On the Radio
- Press Weather to listen to the current weather channel.
- Use the Up/Down arrows to scroll through available weather channels.
Adjusting Volume
- Use the Volume dial on the side of the unit.
Listening to AM/FM
- Press the AM/FM button
- Use Up/Down arrows to tune stations
Setting the Clock
- Press Menu
- Scroll to SET TIME, then press Select
- Use Up/Down arrows to adjust hour, then press Select
- Adjust minutes the same way and press Select again
Setting the Alarm
- Press Menu
- Scroll to SET ALARM, then press Select
- Use Up/Down to adjust hours, press Select, then adjust minutes
- Press Select to confirm
To enable the alarm, go to ALARM ON/OFF in the menu.
Weather Alerts
The WR300 can receive alerts from NOAA for various emergencies including:
- Tornado Warnings
- Flash Flood Alerts
- Amber Alerts
- Chemical Spills
- Radiological Events
When an alert is received:
- Siren sounds (based on alert level)
- Alert type and message scroll on the display
- LED indicator lights
Alert Levels:
- Warning: Highest priority, long siren
- Watch: Medium priority, shorter siren
- Advisory: Short beep or display message
SAME County Code Setup
SAME codes allow the radio to filter alerts for specific geographic areas.
- Visit weather.gov/nwr to find your county code
- Press Menu, scroll to SET LOCATION, press Select
- Choose SINGLE, MULTIPLE, or ANY:
- SINGLE: One county
- MULTIPLE: Up to 25 counties
- ANY: All alerts regardless of location
- Enter 6-digit SAME code using arrow buttons
- Press Select to confirm
Setting the Weather Channel
- Press Menu
- Scroll to SET CHANNEL, press Select
- Use Up/Down arrows to scan all 7 NOAA channels
- Stop when you hear the strongest/clearest signal
- Press Select to save
Alert Type Settings
Customize how alerts sound:
- Press Menu
- Scroll to ALT TYPE, press Select
- Choose:
- VOICE: Siren followed by voice broadcast
- TONE: Siren only
- DISPLAY: No siren, alert appears on screen
- Press Select to confirm
Programming Alerts
You can enable/disable specific alerts.
- Press Menu
- Scroll to SET EVENTS, press Select
- Scroll through alert types
- Press Select to toggle between:
- ON: Receive alert
- OFF: Ignore alert
- Repeat as needed, then press Menu to exit
Additional Menu Options
- SET LANGUAGE: Choose English, Spanish, or French
- BACKLIGHT: Select Always On, Always Off, or Timed
- ALERT TEST: Play sample alert siren
- ALERT VOLUME: Adjust siren volume
