The MXT105B operates on GMRS frequencies requiring an FCC license. You must be licensed to use channels 1-7 or 15-22. Visit fcc.gov to apply.
To limit RF exposure:
Maintain at least 15.5 inches (40 cm) between you and the antenna.
Transmit no more than 50% of the time.
Installing Your Radio
Preparation
Ensure your vehicle is a 12-volt negative ground system.
Disconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable.
Choose a mounting location that does not impair visibility or driving.
Avoid drilling into areas with hidden wiring.
Mounting Bracket Installation
Use the bracket as a template and mark holes.
Attach bracket with included screws (do not over-tighten).
Slide radio into bracket until retainers engage.
About Range
Your MXT105 is designed to give you maximum operating range under optimum conditions:
"Optimum condition" examples for maximum operating range are:
- Over water
- In open rural areas without obstructions
- On flat areas where you can see the other radio user
Antenna Installation
Place antenna as high as possible on a flat metal surface.
Avoid surfaces with vinyl or fiberglass.
Keep cable away from vehicle electronics and do not crimp it.

Plug into your vehicle's DC port, or hardwire as follows:
Red wire: +12V accessory fuse or battery

Operating Your Radio
Power On/Off
Press and hold the Power button (2 sec) to turn on/off.
Channel Selection
Use Channel Up/Down to scroll through 15 GMRS channels.
To communicate, radios must be on the same channel and privacy code.
Transmitting and Receiving
Press PTT (Push-To-Talk) on the mic to transmit.
Release PTT to listen. Adjust volume as needed.
Locking the Keypad
Hold Menu for 2 seconds to lock/unlock the keypad.
Adjusting Display Brightness
Press Power to cycle through 5 brightness levels, including off.
Monitor Mode
Tap Monitor/Weather to listen for weak signals or check channel activity.
Weather Alerts and Channels
Setting the Weather Channel
Auto Scan:
Hold Monitor/Weather (3 sec) to enter Weather Mode.
Radio auto-scans for NOAA station.
Press Menu to save when you hear broadcast.
Manual Entry:
Enter Weather Mode.
Press Menu, then use Channel Up/Down to select correct weather channel.
Press Menu again to save.
Listen to Weather
Enter Weather Mode to hear local forecast.
Press PTT to exit.
Weather Alert Mode
Enter Weather Mode.
Press Menu twice to reach Alert ON/OFF.
Set to ON to enable Weather Alerts (icon flashes).
Press Menu to save and PTT to exit.
Scanning for Active Channels
Channel Scan
Tap Scan button to start.
Radio will pause on active channels.
Press PTT to talk or wait 5 seconds for scan to resume.
Tap Scan again to stop scanning.
Edit Scan List
Go to channel you want to remove.
Hold Scan (3 sec) to remove it from scan list.
Repeat to re-add the channel.

Squelch Sensitivity: 0–9
Keypad Beep: On/Off

How to Adjust
Press Menu.
Use Channel Up/Down to find setting.
Press Menu to enter.
Use Up/Down to adjust.
Press Menu again to save.
Care and Maintenance
Clean with water-moistened cloth only.
Avoid alcohol, harsh cleaners, and full submersion.
Dry with lint-free cloth if wet.
